Very simple to the point animation. I love the way the leave floats down to the water. There is almost an intermediary transformation between the leaf and the fish. The leaf becomes a lure for a short second slicing through the water. So that poses the question...Does the leaf turn into a fish or does the Fish appear and swallow the lure? The one thing I do not understand is why make the leaf bounce across the screen. Why not make it just fall in to the water?
Lauren....The first thing that I did notice was how well you portrayed the leaf floating down into the water. I really got the sense that it was a real leaf! One thing I would change though would be the platform it jump off from....it didn't look like land or anything....maybe if you were to portray that as a ship or even a diving board? Or maybe just fall from a tree? Overall a wonderful job!
I love the floating breezy path the leaf takes once it jumps off the pier. The leaf does look slightly flat right before it makes the jump, as was mentioned in class, and perhaps it could be a little curvier and flexible when it makes the jump. It looks a little stiff. The main thing I kept waiting for when I first watched it was a point where you could see the leaf enter the water. If you made some lines as the leaf enters, so then we know it's underwater, I think it would become a lot stronger. I love the fish, and I really love the motion of the waves. It's very flowing. The one last thing I would consider changing is the shape of the pier the leaf is jumping off - it looks really rigid. Perhaps you could make it look rockier? I also really enjoy the bubbles from the fish. :)
Lauren, I liked the smooth line quality. The rotation of the leaf before jumping and the rotation in the water were different. They helped to define the overall thin profile of the leaf. I probably would have made the leaf bend like it was cupping the air, and go back flat several times before having it enter in the water. Overall I liked the animation.
